Hi All,

I need to move to another datacenter and have a new set of IP ranges assigned.
What is the best option to change the nameserver IP adresses and server IP's?
I am using Centos 6.x servers with Directadmin 1.60.1. All servers are standalone and have 3 ip adresses per server:
1 server IP and
2 ip adresses for the name servers.

First let me ask you this.

Your DNS servers are they run on the same servers?
Are you moving the physical servers?

Your DNS servers's glue entries are they also running on those same servers?

Yes, My DNS Servers run on the same servers
Yes, I am moving the physical servers.
No, the glue entries are running at my domain registrar.

First I would drop my TTL down to 100. At the Registrar and on the server.
Move the servers to the new DC change the IP address. (Make sure you also change it at DirectAdmin they do sometimes take there time in changing the IP address allocation on there side)

But if you contact them before hand and ask them for a trail key they are willing to do so. (I would do this just to make sure there is not any prolonged downtime)

After the server has been migrated to the new DC and all is up and running change the IP address for the glue server to the new IP.
Make sure that the DNS is then working.

Once you are happy all is working change the the DNS records for the sites to the new IP.
All should just start working as normal after the IP has updated.

The other way is to put down a new server at the DC and just migrate the services over to the new server and then change the glue entries.

DM me if you want more advice.
