Hi all,

I have been strugling all day allready for a vps customer of us.

What they do is the following:

The have a vmware Zimbra server with many email accounts the send mail true on account on the vps server (authenticated) and the mail then (should) get sended to the reciever this has been working for more then 3 years
But as the client tels from 3 januari it stoped working and we see log lines like below from all email comming from the zimbra server

2015-01-05 16:08:09 [3424] H=58-10-61-41.static.asianet.co.th [58.10.61.41]:43341 I=[92.48.232.23]:25 incomplete transaction (RSET) from <[email protected]> for [email protected] [email protected]
2015-01-05 16:08:10 [3424] SMTP connection from 58-10-61-41.static.asianet.co.th [58.10.61.41]:43341 I=[92.48.232.23]:25 closed by QUIT

I have been unable to pin point the issue we made sure exim and exim.conf are up to date but no matter what i try the issue remains.
Other mail is working fine exim.conf is from

Am i seeing it correct as my thought on this is that the vps server isnt the issue here but the issue is on the zimbra server side or am i missing something in the whole ?

Hello,

Just a quick guess, try to put your zimbra server IP into /etc/virtual/whitelist_hosts_ip and see how it works.

If you use exim.conf 4.2.3 you may give a release from CustomBuild 2 a try. A version from CustomBuild 2 is actively updated. Probably it will solve your issue. Or try enabling full logging in exim.conf and check logs.

Hi Alex,

Its have tryd exim.conf true CustomBuild and have logging +all
Only log lines i get are the 2 quoted above

You mean on the Zimbra server side i guess ? and i dont know that i dont control the Zimbra server but i have told them so my guess is they did.

Port 587 was tested no luck.

What possible reason could couse these log lines and could be the reason ?
I have try'd disabling firewall spamasassin removed the rbl's etc but no luck.

If i let them route the mail true another exim server of or self its no problem.

Where do these loglines come from? The Zimbra server? Or your server?

The closed by QUIT likely means the other server is closing the connection.

So if those lines are from the Zimbra server, the clues may be in your server's logs.

No lines are from the server we control.

My best quess atm is that they didn't use authentication over port 587 and after a few attempts exim blocks the requests.
