Installing a previously purchased SSL certificate: I only got a Certificate, no Key?

I have an existing SSL EV certificate which I purchased last year. Has been working fine on my old web server so far.

I'm now moving to a new server with DA and trying to install this certificate, but I've only got a .crt file with a -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- section.

When I select the Paste a pre-generated certificate and key option, it says Cannot Execute Your Request, Unable to find key.

I do have three other .crt files from the certificate authority (Comodo) but those also just contain CERTIFICATE parts, no keys.

How do I install my certificate on my new DA server?

Hello,

If you don't have the key (did not copy it from your old server), then you need to re-issue the cert. There no way to recover a key, if you don't have a copy either on your servers or locally on PC/MAC.

Thanks! I assumed the key was server-specific. Apparently it's certificate-specific. I can still access the old server and I copied the key from there. I was now able to import it in DA so everything seems fine.
