bah never mind standard should do just fine. max includes a few things that arn't fully tested.

i have read this breaks phpbb and some other things. can anyone confirm?

Really? Better hold off then until more programs have time to adapt and add functionality for the new version as well as give clients warning of changes before hand and possible side effects.
What was such a big change that it breaks programs such as phpbb? I skimmed through the changelog and noticed something about the way it stored the databases in the filesystem but it didn't mention any major differences.
