New server

I’m totally new on the DNS part of servers and I’m having a problem with my server.
This is my first server with directadmin and I’ve regged a new domain and added this one to the server.

Because this is my first domain on the server I’m using my first domain as nameservers. For example ns1.abc.com and ns2.abc.com.
I’ve regged the domain abc.com with these ns1 and ns2 servers.
My question is now, what do I have to do on directadmin. I’ve read that I needed to add ns1.abc.com A ip and ns2.abc.com.
But still, can’t nslookup and ping these domains.
Who can tell me what I’ve done wrong or do I have to wait another 12 hours and hope that it will work this time ?

You've also got to register ns1.abc.com and ns2.abc.com at the registrar where you registered abc.com.

DNS lookups on the net show that ns1.abc.com and ns2.abc.com haven't been registered.
