OK to upgrade via ports?

Sorry if this is a FAQ (I just took over this DA task), but what is the standard way of upgrading FreeBSD/DirectAdmin server software (e.g. PHP, Apache, MySQL)? Do the DA folks release their own updates or should I just upgrade via the standard OS mechanism?

Specifically, is there any problem with upgrading via the FreeBSD port system?

DA takes care of:

From Installation page

DirectAdmin
Apache
Microsoft FrontPage™ Extensions
PHP
phpMyAdmin
MySQL
Exim
Majordomo
vm-pop3d
WU-IMAP
Proftpd
Also, from the customapache files:

Zend
curl
freetype
gd
libmcrypt
libpng
mhash
mod_perl
mod_ssl
webalizer
zlib
zziplib

The standard DA ./build update takes care of the above packages.

You can use ports for everything else.
