Possible to auto block bruteforce IPs if I am using a differect ssh port?

According to this guide, I cannot enable auto blocking of bruteforces unless I am using the defualt 22 port for ssh.

I am using a different port to prey away all those pesky spammers. How is it possible to use auto blocking in this situation?
