sender verify failed?

What does this usually mean? I have a copule of these entries in my logs:

2004-10-25 13:34:24 H=XXXXX.ipowerweb.com [IP] F=<USEREMAIL> rejected RCPT <DA_RECIPIENT>: Sender verify failed

Who's end is responsible, mine or where my client is emailing from? The IP isn't in my blocklist. And the user can email elsewhere.

Any suggestions?

I may have found my problem, the user has his domaim he's sending from also on my server.

For local domains, exim will check to see if there's a real user at the return address. For foreign domains (not on the server) DA will make sure the domain exists and accepts email.

If the domain he's sending on is also on the server, then DA will check to make sure the entire return address is valid on the server.
