can anyone tell me what this is for? i'm trying to change the page that's sent when trying to access http://1.2.3.4. instead, all i get is "Apache is functioning normally", which is an index.html file in /var/www/html. http://servername.domain.com also vends the same page (neither ip/host has a specific entry in any of apache's files etc). having scanned through the httpd.conf (and relevant includes), nothing seems to point to /home/admin/domains/sharedip.
any clues on how i can get it to be used instead of /var/www/html? i figure i can't just change documentroot in httpd.conf since roundcube, phpmyadmin and all that seem to be installed in /var/www/html.

I don't know what its purpose is, perhaps it is (or was) used in certain linux distribution setups. You could change the DocumentRoot value to this though providing you have aliases setup for roundcube, phpmyadmin and other applications you use.

If I'm right, you can edit the:

/usr/local/directadmin/data/templates/ip_virtual_hosts.conf

file, which isfor the shared IP's

of course copy it in the custom folder then edit there ( |DOCROOT| i think )

But, yeah, I could be wrong....... so dont trust my information......
