I just want to share my recent experience.
I have DA running on a Pentium 4 3.00GHz (1Gb RAM). I have 180 users (a few big sites, and a lot of small ones - 219 domains, 129 subdomains and 528 Pop accounts).
I am sure my server can take more... but since my last work on it (when I installed SpamAssassin and SpamBlocker), my server became very slow and the load average went from an average of 0.8 to an average of 8.5 (often went up to 15-20).
It was obvious that it was one of those 2 anti-spam tools, or the combination of them. I first tried to unselect all domains in the SpamBlocker plugin config, but had no result. I then found the thread of Jeff on how to turn off SpamAssassin (by just adding comments in the exim.conf)... and after restarting Exim, my load average automatically went back down to 0.8-0.9
I just don't know if people are aware of this... and if it is something that only happened to me, or if other admins who installed SpamAssassin (having a kind of busy server) had the same experience?
