Hi! After my father’s sudden death this summer, I have been granted status as the administrator of his domain.

My problem is that I am nowhere near as technically inclined as he was, so I feel quite lost when it comes to what I’m supposed to do.

How does this work? Is there anything I need to do to keep things running smoothly—mainly concerning the email addresses my entire family uses under the domain? From what I can tell, it seems he had a couple of webpages and a lot of files stored within the domain. How do I access these?

I would truly appreciate any and all tips on my new role.

Ok then you have 2 options
1. hire a sysadmin for your server to maintain
2. learn linux (at least basic) to do it on your own

Is the server dedicated or a VPS ? and is there DA software installed ?

I have no idea. My dad was the only one in the family who had any clue about stuff like this, and I am just completely clueless at this point.

It seems like the domain was mainly used to manage our email addresses for the past few years, as I cannot find the webpages anywhere online. But I would love to have a look through the data connected to the webspages to look for pictures etc. In addition to continuing to manage all our email addresses, that's really the only thing I care about right now. Unless there are other things I absolutely need to do, I feel like the rest can wait until I have the time and energy to really get into this.

Hello,

I'm so sorry for your loss. If you have a domain publicly available, i.e. still online we could trace it and see where is it connected to. VPS, shared hosting, etc. We will need to know the domain name. You can send it privately over PM or through my website in the signature.
