Stop receiving mail temporarily

During a major upgrade, I take a snapshot, perform alle upgrades and if anything fails restore the snapshot. During that time mail may be incoming and outgoing. Is there an easy way to stop this?

Usually if you have to work for less than 48 hours i would just suggest you to stop the exim service.

All the incoming mail will fail and the remote server will keep trying to re-send those email up to 48hrs.
