So perl is in the recommended yum exclude list for centOS and custom apache does not update it.

So what is the recommended process for updating perl on a DA server running CentOS 4.3? Does DA modify the defaults so you can not use yum anymore or something?

I just got a reply from John, he said that DA does not change anything as far as perl is concerned. Therefor it can be managed with yum/rpm without issue.

So I guess it must be on the accepted exclude list here on the forum for the same reason as the kernel, control.
