Virus found message

I've running a few FreeBSD web servers with DA for over a year now and they haven never let me down so far.

I have just one question about my clamav installation.

All mails with virusses are rejected/removed nicely, but how can i
modify clamav so that the sender/receiver of the mail gets a notice that the email contained a virus.

any one ?

You can do that by adding a line to exim.conf.

You can read the exim documentation because I'm not going to explain how to do it.

Why? Because since most viruses are sent by compromised desktop machines and use phony sender information, all you'd be doing is spamming innocent bystanders.

Hai Jeff,

I think you are absolutely right about that.
But i get people on the phone who are complaining by
not getting email what they are waiting for.
I have to look in de logs to explain them that the email
did contain a virus.

Don't you think it is not a nice thing to send a notice to the
receiver, not the sender of the email that the email is deleted.

greetings,

I'm guessing that whatever method you're using to call ClamAV can tell it to clean the virus and forward the email without the attachment.

But I'm not sure how.
