hello

it's the second time it happens: vm-pop3d 1.1.6 dies and I don't get to restart it

I found other threads about it, but it was not my case...
here's what I tried to restart it:

# service vm-pop3d stop
# killall -9 vm-pop3d
(no answer)
# killall -9 vm-pop3d
(no answer)
# killall -9 vm-pop3d
(no process found)

# ps -auxw | grep pop3
(nothing found)
# sockstat -4 | grep 110
(nothing found)
# sockstat -4 | grep 113
(again nothing found)

# service vm-pop3d start
(OK)

[not working]

# service vm-pop3d stop
(not found)

# service vm-pop3d start
(OK)

and so on...
I also tried rm -f /var/spool/lock/vm-pop3d and to restart again

the log show that the address was already in use

anyway
while testing a few other things, I checked the log again and a user had logged... hmm...
then I did "ps -auxw | grep pop3" and it was there!

so it just starts when it wants?!

any suggestions?

All the services you can see from the services page on the DA web-based control panel are managed by DA, and DA will continue to start them unless they've been turned off from that panel.

I was merely responding to sander815's post. I have no idea why it kept dying; to know that I'd have had to have logged in while it was dying and run some tests.
