I have setup an email account for the domain. I am able to log in to the account via squirrellmail. I have tried send email from the web interface & get the following error. "Service not available, closing channel
Server replied: 421 Unexpected failure, please try later"

When I check the Exim Mainlog - /var/log/exim/mainlog
I see the following errors

I am running FC 3 & this is a new install of DA. both the domain & mail. resolve in DNS.

Any idea's, perhaps permissions??

Hello, can any one help with this problem. This is affecting any domain that I setup. No one get's email nor can any one send email.

Please help: what can I do to fix this issue.

Perhaps bad permissions; perhaps not enough space on the partition.

Jeff

Jeff, Thanks for the response

I do not think drive space is an issue. The server has nearly 200 Gig of space available. The most used on any partition is currently 3%.

With that said, what are the permissions suppose to be on each of those files? I would like to get this fixed soon.

Again thanks.

The first error is saying that it can't deliver mail to root since that's in the never users list. You should probably set up an alias for root in /etc/aliases.

The second error is that the mail user (I'm guessing mail is uid 8 and gid 12) doesn't have read/write access to /var/spool/exim/db and /var/spool/exim/input. Both of those folders (and msglog as well) should be chowned mail:mail and chmod 750, and any of the files in those folders should be chowned the same and chmod 640.

ballyn,

Thanks for the info, that fixed the errors. E-mail is now working.

Thanks again.
