I have DA installed on my new server. I'm new to DA. I have Admin and Users only. When I move from Admin to Users, it only shows 1 of my 20 domains. So this is the only domain I can edit? What happened to the other 19 domains. I was expecting when I got to user level I would see my 20 domains in a drop-down menu to chose from. But I only see this one domain. How do I edit my other domains.

I have Admin and Users only.
How exactly do you mean this. Do you have Admin and users, or do you only have Admin and for admin user level?
What kind of license do you have?
How did you create or import the 20 domains you're talking about?

What I mean is I have no Resellers. I am the Admin and User for all domains.

My host transferred from cPanel to DirectAdmin when I changed server. So I'm low on how they did this or the license. It's been a kind of a dispute between us because I expected, when I dropped down from Admin to User, DA would show me all my domains to select which one to edit. When I have only 1 domain to edit, and I don't know if this is correct or not. It seems strange to me, because I would expect to easily be able to edit every domain. And I have no idea, if this is correct. And if it is correct. How do I edit my other 19 more important domains. It seems a little odd to me.

Try what floyd said. If that does not show anything, contact your host and ask him about the license. If you were the only user on cPanel too, then something went wrong on the transfer. Beacuse if you have 20 domains as only user, you are correct, they should show up in your admin account if you drop down from Admin to user level.
Indeed from there it's easy to edit every domain.

So if no other users present and domains not there where you say, your host should have a look what went wrong.

I am thinking since its not advisable to have domains in the admin account they were put in another user account. On Cpanel the user would not have been admin so likely its another user other than admin. That's why I say show all users so that you can see all the users and the domains.

Yep, that's why I advised to try your advise first.
I was thinking they might have moved him to a personal license, and that would also explain some things. But this will also show (if everything is correct) if he uses the "show all users" part.

Richard we agree. I was just adding to what I had already said. But yes I can see where if its a personal license then it would be under admin. But changing usernames is complicated. I'm sure it wasn't admin in Cpanel. So if the host did the transfer I bet something bad happened.

I've conveyed you comments about 1 Admin and 20 users should be possible if it was only 1 cPanel account. It's the holiday weekend now. So I'm not expecting a reply until tomorrow. From your remarks, it looks like I must have multiple cPanel accounts, unbeknownst to me. I'll post an update when I have more information.

If they come back and say I only have 1 account, then I agree, I think something bad has happened, and they cannot see it. The cPanel/WHM is offered as part of the hosting, so it's free, so I have no idea of any of the licensing details.

It would be the same of course with DirectAdmin. It comes free in the hosting package. I'm not being asked to buy it personally. It's a medium-large hosting outfit.

Holiday or not Support should still reply to you. If they don't then you need a new hosting company. Why is it we can reply faster that the host?

Also in cPanel it's possible to have multiple domains under 1 user account. I'm still wondering what the "view all users" or "list users" showed you in Directadmin, if you could see domains there or multiple users.

As for the rest I fully agree with floyd. Even on holidays there should be support. Even (very) small businesses can ask somebody else to do support and notify them if certain things really need a check. I always had my laptop with me for the few times I was on holidays.

OK. My host is saying it is a security risk to have more than one domain in one cPanel. I have no idea of the veracity of the comments. And I presume this is why my domains are in their own cPanel. They basically are saying they won't copy the 6 cPanels I have into 1 cPanel, because of this security risk. I'm sure they have done many many transfers from cPanel to DirectAdmin over the last year with the increased prices of cPanel. And this has never come up? So I have no choice but to transfer out to another host, who will copy my cPanels (each with 1 domain) into 1 cPanel as part of the transfer process, at a price for each cPanel of course. So when the transfer is completed, at least I will be in a position to transfer to a DirectAdmin managed hosting in the future, and will be able to see all my domains as users.

I think that is the best thing to do. As for their statements... well I won't comment on that. Says enough i guess.
Hope you find some good host willing to help you.

Other options, you could maybe also safe money, and hire one of our specialists here on the forum (like Zeiter or Smtalk) to instantly transfer your current accounts to your Directadmin. This way you might skip 1 cpanel transfer.
So it might be wise to ask them for a quote.

I've already started the migration, although it's going slowly. But I appreciate the offer for help. It wasn't easy to find a reliable, well regarded host which would do this.

There are plenty here that will. A lot of us here are hosts and are not beginners with DA.

I'm literally days away, probably plus this weekend to have my VPS running on my new host. After that I'm going to come back here, with empty pockets <grin>, and ask about a DirectAdmin Hosting Migration. cPanel is just too complicated for me,

Just as a matter of record. If anybody is wondering why my cPanels dropped from 20 to 6. It was to get rid of the minor stuff which hadn't yet been developed into a website, and can be easily recreated after the transfer.

I really am afraid for you. A competent host would have done this for you in a couple of hours at most.

To put the record straight, my old host was excellent at support. It was my new host which has been the problem with the migration. They have a rule that if you post something in the migration ticket, this puts you last in the queue for a reply from the migration staff. I think this was absolutely being abused by migration staff. No proof, but I had many times to contact Support and get them to speak to migration staff. Sometimes it took at least 3 contacts before they would. But what a way to run a business? By having a new client signed up, and then have them trapped in a migration process, which puts you to the bottom of the queue for a response, if they post anything in the migration ticket. I only understood this after 2 days. Although support said I was told on the first day. But it didn't help that I was made aware. It's a crazy way to organize a migration.

Thankfully. No tickets needed since the migration is complete :) But it was a nightmare not getting responses to important questions in a timely manner. It's definitely put a black mark over this host, for me.
