HOWTO (In Developing): DA Installing on FreeBSD 7.0 64-bit (Using ports tree)

Look, when we went ahead and purchased our directadmin licences we checked which OSses were supported. Experience in the past has shown me how much more stable FreeBSD is as a web hosting platform than any Linux distro. You don't see many Linux machines still being responsive as FreeBSD when the...

HOWTO (In Developing): DA Installing on FreeBSD 7.0 64-bit (Using ports tree)

Because we paid for it to do so. We do. We like to stay in touch/tune with the latest stablest environment. People have tried and failed. Some people have succeeded and trying to get others to succeed too, only to have them fail. We already have, plenty of times, some of those times in this...

    Exim not starting.

Gee, I hadn't thought of that. Except for the part that the knowledge base article tells you to reinstall exim. And right now I'm reinstalling 5.8.8 from source, hoping that'll fix my woes. Ok, so after reinstalling the perl.tbz package off the freebsd ftp server I'm now down to this problem...

    Exim not starting.

Updated perl to 5.8.9 this morning on 3 servers. 2 Free6.1 and 1 Free7. Exim won't start on the Free7 server. Same error message as above. However, following the knowledge base article yields the following: gcc dk.c gcc dkim-exim.c awk '{ print ($1+1) }' cnumber.h > cnumber.temp rm -f...

    New & Free Webmail client!

@mail looks pretty sweet, I suspect some of our users might switch to it just like some our users switched from uebimiau to roundcube (me included). There's just 1 thing. Is there anything that lets you convert your roundcube adressbook (or squirrel/uebimiau) to @mail? Some people have an insane...

FreeBSD and custombuild, perhaps not a good choice?

floyd: I can see that, sure. We do have a 64bit system (hardware) but we decided to keep running 32bit. There's nothing in the howto that's specific to 64bit as far as I can tell. I know step 5 says "Reinstalling of libiconv, because during DA install it was rewrited to 32-bit." but seeing as...

    Disk usage reported incorrectly

One of our customers has about 1.2Gb of disk space in use, yet the sidebar in his account only mentions he's using 0 bytes. Bandwidth usage however is indicated. I tried the old echo "action=tally&value=all" >> /usr/local/directadmin/data/task.queue, I tried the fix_da_user.sh script, running a...

FreeBSD and custombuild, perhaps not a good choice?

    We're not running 64bit. We're running 32bit.

FreeBSD and custombuild, perhaps not a good choice?

Last year we decided to add another server, and seeing how FreeBSD 7's ip stack is a fair bit quicker than the previous versions, and the fact that we'd be using it for quite a while we decided to use FreeBSD 7(.0). It's been nothing but worries and troubles and endless nights of trying to put...

HOWTO (In Developing): DA Installing on FreeBSD 7.0 64-bit (Using ports tree)

Because of DA's version of libiconv csh and tcsh segfault when they start. This is quite annoying seeing as how csh is the default shell for root. When DA's setup is done you just have to rebuild libiconv (/usr/ports/converters/libiconv). You'll find the problem is no longer. And since that is...

DA admin GUI serving empty pages

It sounds like your ip address was added to the blacklist. I've had this happen to me on many occasion. Just check /usr/local/directadmin/data/admin/ip_blacklist and see if it contains your ip address. It most oftenly occurs when you're behind a proxy server.

    Update to Bind?

So, what is this http://files.directadmin.com/services/packages-6-stable/Latest/bind.tbz then that is getting installed by the setup.sh in /usr/local/directadmin/scripts/setup.sh? Is this a repackaged bind? Is it compatible with free 6.1's layout for bind? Will there be any problems installing...

    DNS Problems

I thought you meant the post I referred to. My bad. Just a bit cheesed off about people telling me I should use product 'B' when I've got a problem with product 'A'.

Now I could tell you to just switch to using IIS, but that wouldn't be a real solution, would it? http://www.directadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24791

vm-pop3d connection stops after 1 message

If I have a problem with apache do you say "install IIS"? So, I'd like to get this vm-pop3d issue worked out, not getting something else.

vm-pop3d connection stops after 1 message

This first came to our attention by a client of ours who said he had to reconnect after every single message to get all his emails. He only has this problem with our service. The exact same client setup (Nokia N95 8Gb) does pop all the messages at another provider. 2 days ago we finally got...

    RoundCube

On a new server install Roundcube looks great. So I thought I'd add it to our existing servers. I downloaded the install script and executed it. I got the following result: (apollon|ttyp0) scripts # ./roundcube.sh cat: /var/www/html/roundcube/index.php: No such file or directory [: !=...

DirectAdmin Version 2 - Discussion, ideas, opinions and anything else!

I'd like to see * a system backup that can also be restored. * an 'upgrade' button for the various bits that make up the server (apache, php, mysql, etc).
