    Best Pratice for High Availability...

LOL, it is used for a whole lot of stuff beyond DA. I really enjoy vmware because of the app abstraction it provides.

    Best Pratice for High Availability...

the SAN hardware failure is highly redundant. Not only do you have your standard arrays, we have redundant tray arrays that have dual link Fiber Fabric connections. Each tray has 2 power supplies that again split two the two different power girds. Each fiber link goes to a separate controller...

    Best Pratice for High Availability...

VMWare The best solution I have found is running your server as a vmware image. Your applications should not be hardware or network dependent, and vmware provides that abstraction layer needed. It will handle all the mutlipathing issues needed with the SAN, RARP requests for network teaming and...

    New Spam Control - MailChannels

Alternative Well, the purpose of the traffic control is to approach spam at a different model. Most of the time spammers are early talkers, talking before a banner is hit. If you throttle them, they will either try again later at which time they will be throttled again, most likely jumping to...

    Update to Bind?

Since DNS is installed as an RPM anyway, i removed the bind* and left the chroot option in the yum.conf, updated bind, and then added it back, and it seems to be working ok. Updated all our Caching, Authoritative, and Mail servers today and had no problem.

    Apache 1.3.37 + mod_python 2.7.11

Oh, can you post your trace as well if this is still a problem? I have a feeling its a python path issue.

    Apache 1.3.37 + mod_python 2.7.11

Django Well, I thought I may chime in here to help, as i work with the developers of django and have had the same questions as you guys that i have been fotrunate enough to just ask them. With mod_python, it just like using mod_perl. No index page is required, thats baloney. When you initiate...

    Fedora 9

I wanted to know if there was anything I could do to help move along the release for a DA F9 installation. I am wanting to try fedora 9 on the new vmware and would live to try a balanced system with DA.

    Per user instances

Floyd, ill give ya the basics, if you need copies of each file in question, i will be more than willing to send them your way. When a new user wants on, i do the following setups. I added the domain to a /etc/serverslist file that I have created in junction with a custom init so i can do...

    Per user instances

heh, Wouldn't it be nice to offer customers a manage solution without telling them "Get a VPS". Seems like a lazy man shortcut. I believe per user instance will work alot better than a vps, actually cost and time compared it would be.

    Per user instances

Jlasman, Thank you. I currently do these setups manually, but i think since no other options are out there, in DA 2 this could be a field that is growing, for a premium of hosting, and will fit the bill perfectly. Cmon.... wanna be the first control panel that supports advanced web...

    Per user instances

If this ability could be extended to the users. It would be a large rewrite of DA to make this happen, and this i understand. Basically what I have setup manually is a custom init file for httpd. I will start up different apache processes each with their own self conf file each with a different...

    Per user instances

Eh, this wouldn't happen. Each user would get a static ip as mentioned, and adding additional domains would be virtual hosts. But this allows them to modify mod_* information without affecting other users. The main conf sits outside the directory, so I can limit its growth, but the additional...

    Per user instances

I would like to setup the ability that each user created has a static ip, and is assigned their own instance of apache. Allowing them to configure mod_perl on the fly or mod_python and being able to restart or hup the process. Is anyone currently doing this with DA?

    Anyone using puppet?

Another system I have used that I preferred greatly over puppet is capistrano. It was much easier to deploy new servers. VMWare, Storagetek, and capistrano.

    Anyone using puppet?

I know, but ruby brings a bad taste to my mouth. Its core platform is built off the ruby platform, and ruby, like any other fan of any other agile language, has a preference. I have had bad experiences with ruby. The community is what did it for me.

    Important News for ModernBill users:

God, the name parallels just makes me sick to my stomach. The Parallels Virtuozzo platform doesn't hold water to vmware. And the mac desktop client made me want to switch to a native windows box. This is sad.
