Hi,
I am trying to get Mambo & SMF to work together. However, I need the SMF user to have access to the Mambo database & vice versa. How do I go about doing that??

You should be able to use your directAdmin login details to have access to all the databases. You can do what you want if you have sufficient permissions (da_admin or root) through phpmyadmin or the command line.

Go easy on the guy (or lady), Jon; s/he's new :).

If your client has the ability to create multiple databases, s/he can.

But what do you mean by getting Mambo and SMF to work together? Will that require custom coding? Just what is it you want them to do together?

Do you mean database user (as in SMF user), or website user (as in DA user)?

Jeff

hi,
It's a guy
I should have mentioned that I am a newbie!! I tried going through phpmyadmin, but I cant find any option that lets me add users to the database.
jlasman,
There is a component that intergrates SMF + Mambo, check out simplemachines.org for more info.
No need for custom coding(if thats the case I am doomed!!)

When logged into phpmyadmin as da_admin or root, click on the "Privileges" link in the main right frame.
You should be presented with a list of all the users that phpMyAdmin has access to. Edit the user you want to give access to the additional databases for.
On that page you should find a section called something like Database-specific privileges
There you can select the database you want the user to have control over from the drop-down menu as well as add, edit, or delete existing privileges.

hi,
There is no links on the right side of the main page. I assume I am not logged in as the da_admin :( . Is there any other way??
Sorry for being such a pain!!

Nope. This has been a requested feature for DirectAdmin's manager, but nothing has come of it yet.

Thanks jmstacey,
Looks like I am screwed!! Can't believe they actually didn't think about that

All might not be lost. You could contact yoru hosting provider and explain to them what you need, they should be able to do this pretty easily. Or, you can use your DirectAdmin login details which should have access to all of your databases (it's a a master account), although it is less secure since it does have access to all of them.
