Would I be able to install DA from my home connection?

Say eth0 is my assigned IP, we'll call it 66.43.X.X

Then eth1 can be my internet 192.168.X.X

Would I be able to install DA as long as my eth0 is set to my license IP?

This would make it easier to setup my boxes before taking them to my data center.

This is my understanding:

DirectAdmin will only install on it's licensed IP#. If you connect to the Internet on your intrenal IP#, the DirectAdmin won't install because it won't be sending traffic back to the license IP#.

One alternative, the one we use, is to set up the OS at our office, then take the server to the datacenter, change the eth0 to our datacenter IP#, and finish the DirectAdmin part of the installation remotely.

You cannot connect to the internet on that ip. You can connect to a router or modem with that ip and then connect to the internet. The DA license would have to be the ip of whatever device actually connects to the internet with a public ip.

I just did this two days ago and installed DA fully and then shipped it to the data center. When it arrives I will change the ip on the DA license to be one of the public ip's I have there. I will then do a ipswap on the machine.

Very easy to do it from a home connection.

Yeah. I've just been doing that. DA is pretty fast to change my licenses IPs anyway, so I guess it's not too bad.

No big deal.

Thanks for the replies.
