Hello,

I created a simple mail forwarder on of my user accounts, but when I send mail to it (from Gmail for example) I get back a delivery failure with the following message:

550 authentication required

I have searched on Google and found topics that talk about authentication required for a relay server, but this is not the case because this is an inbound and not and outbound mail... what's the solution?

Thats because you probably have the domain hosted on google somewhere.

Have you checked your server exim logs ? Check your /var/log/exim/rejectlog for your mail issues

Checked, nothing there.

I have about 15 sites on the server, all email accounts on the other users work ok.

It wasn't there, seems a lot of domains aren't there, this file is not supposed to be populated automatically? what does this file do?

Do I need to restart any service now after updating?

All domains which you add through directadmin cp are automatically added into the file by default. The file contains a list of domains which have locally served MX service. If your domain is not in the list the SMTP server won't accept emails for the domain. if you are missing some domains from the list, then your installation might be corrupted, or you've got custom scripts which prevent adding domains in the file. Check logs.

No
