Hello,

for the past 3 days, some of my users are experiencing problems with sending emails. Everything worked before, we havent changed any configuration since then, but some of the users get:

Code:
Subject: Undeliverable:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject:	FW:
Sent:	11.4.2010 16:36

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'[email protected]' on 11.4.2010 16:36
550 authentication required

Any ideas? I checked the exim log, just sais authentication required:

2010-04-13 07:43:19 H=bsn-95-111-158.dsl.net (dp02) [IP] F=<[email protected]> rejected RCPT <[email protected]>: authentication required

Have they set up their mail client to pass the username and password to the server when sending email?

Are you using the latest exim.conf code recently published as test code in one of my SpamBlocker threads? If so:

If the helo name isn't a real domain name (this one isn't; it's dp02 then the connection now must be authenticated even though it wasn't reuired before.

To avoid those tests all mail to be relayed off the server (in other words not addressed to a domain on the server) must be plain-text password authenticated, and must use port 587 rather than port 25.

That will be carefully noted in the RC release. But if you started using the code already, that's most likely the problem.

Jeff
