$_SESSION when you are developing your own plugin?

Hi guys,

First of all, I couldnt find this anywhere...

When you develop your own plugins for DirectAdmin in php, is there some kind of session handler available? $_SESSION seems to be empty every time. It doesn't matter if I add something, it's gone on the next page..

I bet this is done on purpose by DirectAdmin, but I hope there is an alternative. My SQLite option is not working out
