Hello all,

I forgot my forum password, so I had to register under this username because the form that is presented to fill out my email address is no good for a person like myself because I happened to forget what email address I used when I registered here. Since I'm running out of tries to login, it makes need for a system that can help people recover their passwords like:

For example:
Since I forgot the email address I've used to register here n the past, I could be presented with a form that displays AT ramdom, different domain names, but your real one would be in there. So if my email address is on file as [email protected]

the form would have
* @homeer.com
* @giltry.net
* @frocdit.com
* @prolo.com
* @qiejrt.org
* @thijme.net
* @xirfxjn.com

etc............... add as many different domains as you like. I'd say put at least 50 domains in the form and THEN give them 5 tries before you make them wait. If they run out of tries, their next attempt at it will randomize the domains again, yet keeping the one on file in every list.

The legit person will know the answer. Once they select the correct one (@prolo.com), it'll then display the email address it has on file ([email protected]) and a text box where you can put in your new email address. If they still use that email address from that domain, then the password can be sent there.

Now, suppose the person selects the correct @prolo.com and they're not at that email address any longer? They would need a way for their password to be sent to their new location. And how do you do that? You put a field next to it so a person can put in their new email address. And once they hit the submit button, the password or login information is sent to them.

Of course you can have more tests to put the person through, like setting up a trivial question that only that person would know.

I also read something similar in discussion here:
http://www.directadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16856&highlight=recover+forum+password

.... but if someone can point me to how I can get my login info sent to me, I'll be much obliged. You can even send me a page/file with 100 random words + my password in that list, I'll find my password on the 1st and only try, that I would need. If I need to email or pm someone, that'll work too.

Thanks for your valued time.

This is all interesting, but this forum software is a closed-source commercial package. You can bring this up on their forum, here.
