I currently have a AMD A64 processor (which is also 32bit compatible).

I know that DA isn't compatible with 64 bit OSes so I was thinking of installing the 32 bit version of FC5. Then again, if I'm reading it right, FC5 isn't really supported by DA?

There's a beta version of DA for the 64-bit version of CentOS 4.

All officially suported OS versions of DA are listed here.

Additionally, DA is working as a beta version on FreeBSD 6; the Beta FreeBSD forum can be found here.

Of course you use beta software on production servers at your own risk.

Thanks, I guess I'll stick with the i386 version of Fedora 4.

A few more questions, DA suggests that we perform a clean install without installing Apache etc. So from what I've gathered on the forum, I should deselect all packages to keep it minimal and only install development packages such as GCC ?

Also, when I tried installing FC4, theres the part about firewalls and SELinux? So do I leave it on or turn it off?

At a bare minimum your server must have one IP address. However, for DNS control you will need at least two (2) IP addresses. With only one IP address you will be forced to use an external DNS service -- this means web sites you create through the control panel will not propagate automatically.

I have been assigned 8 IP addresses by my datacentre so how exactly does this fit in?

I do a minimal install of CentOS and then manually add anything DA chokes on because it's not there.

I can't tell you what that'd be for FC4.

We start with leaving the firewall on by default, but be sure to allow ssh, or you won't be able to get into your server once it's in the data center.

Then we create a new firewall later, most of the time using kiss, which has been discussed on these forums.

We disable SELinux, since DA doesn't know how to manipulate it.

While you should use an external DNS service for slave DNS in any event, to give you redundancy, you can assign two IP#s to nameservers through the control panel.
