Hi!

It would be great if an option would be added to send backups to Amazon S3 directly. Now i only see the option to externally backup users to ftp.
To be able to backup users to S3 at this moment I pay a company more $$ a month than the DirectAdmin licence costs. Not OK :(

I think many users would like this option!
Keep up the great work!

Thanks!

To S3?
I don't believe the sftp option exists for backup. At least not for admin or i can't find it.

under admin backup/transfer there is ftp option, I THINK if you use sftp port it uses it. I've used it to backup directly to offsite vps. IIRC S3 ave ftp login info.

@peps03:

More details please. What do yoou need to do to backup to S3? Is this a situation where you'd need to create API calls to S3, or is there any other kind of interface you can use? Exactly what kind of interface are you looking for?

Thanks for pointing this out, Andrea. I'm going to look into using this for offering our clients an optional offsite backup service.

I am not sure if that's going to be implemented yet, but integration of duplicity into DA would allow creating encrypted & incremental backups, backup to S3 and would provide many other features :)

That's what we use and is the best option for people looking at sending backups to S3. No need to include S3 in the backup routine itself.

What would be great though is to allow users to use duplicity from the CP. Perfect way to make safe backups to a remote location. A simple HTML page would let the user pick a folder, type in a password and configure a backend.

Third party solution

Is using third party's solution an option? Cloudberry Lab and CloudBacko both allow you to backup to Amazon S3.

Perhaps some of us would be interested in your solutions if they're tailored to work directly inside of DirectAdmin. I'm not sure if you're a bot or a rep for the company, but if the latter, then consider writing a DirectAdmin plugin and making it part of your package so that our community members can consider your product.
