The admin backup for all users process runs quickly, but it's too fast, causing it to consume all available CPU resources and utilize both dedicated CPU cores on my VPS. Consequently, server responsiveness slows down significantly, with website loading times becoming noticeably sluggish during backup periods. While this isn't currently a major issue since I schedule backups for 3 am, could we implement a CPU usage limit, perhaps around 50%, to prevent such performance disruptions?

Hi,

What are the specs of your server?
Because if you don't have a "fast" server, it will consume all resources of course.

2x AMD EPYC Processor (with IBPB) 5190.24 2595.124 MHz
But i think backup should never use 100% whatever system you have

It's true that a backup should not take full resources, but if their is not a lot of resources, it's difficult to take only 50% for example.
Every certain process needs a certain power.

On my Dedicated server, it takes max 10% of the CPU resources during a backup.

Mine is also going high, but is lowering when other processes start to work.
However I do use this line in my directadmin.conf file.
ionice_string=/usr/bin/ionice -c2 -n7

You can adjust ionice to your needs and see if it helps.

What is your size of backup. 1 user takes 10gb of data wit lots of small pdf files.
