Hello all!
New here and recently new to DA. I am using DA on a personal server and so far have been using the admin user for everything as I do not need multiple resellers, users etc...

Is it ideal/safe to continue to use the admin account for admin/reseller/user for my website and ssh access? If not could you please point me to resources related to DA for individual usage, all of my search strings have turned up no help.

TIA!

Hello,

My suggestion would be to have every domain as a separate user account, in this case if one site gets hacked the others might stay in safety.

So I would just create a new user under the admin reseller? I only ask because I tried to create a user under the admin reseller and it says I need to add packages first. If I simply create a package and add a user under the admin reseller is this acceptable?

Back to my original question, if I am just using one domain is there any reason I should create a seperate account and not use the admin account? Does creating this extra user actually increase security?

Sorry for the amerature questions, just trying to get a feel for the proper way to utilize DA for individual use since it is geard so much toward multiple accounts.

Thanks again!

Yes, you should firstly create at least one package as a admin reseller, then you create a new user account for a domain.

In my opinion, this is not secure to host:

1. All domains under one account
2. any domains under admin user.

Note, I don't say that it is completely insecure, all depends on what scripts and CMS you are using there.

Another moment, that it would be quicker to unpack one account from a tar.gz then to deal with a tar.gz containing Gbs of data.

That's OK, note both ways are possible and you should decide what is better for you. If all sites are yours, and none of them belong to a customer of yours, then you might want to host them under a single account. But if you host sites of your friends or customers, then some day they might want to get access to FTP or Directadmin for more control.
