after Dovecot conversion, received old emails again and again

Dear All,


I have converted a DA server from vm-pop3d to Dovecot.

Our clients said the speed is faster, howerver, they complain that they always received old emails again and again.


What is the problem?

I haven't run the following step yet, is it related to the above problem?

3) Make sure that dovecot is running. Take a few days to ensure that everything is working correctly. Once satisfied, you can clean the old mbox files by typing:
echo "action=delete&value=mbox" >> /usr/local/directadmin/data/task.queue


If I run it, will the problem be solved?

That shouldn't be an issue at all.

Dovecot should be deleting each email file as the local client acknowledges it's receipt.

If it's not doing that you need to see whether or not your email client is told to leave emails on the server.

Yes, our clients have chosen to save emails in the server.

However,they should not be downloaded again, as those emails are already downloaded before.

The problem is that, our clients complain that they always received old emails again and again.
 
I agree that they should not be.

Are they receiving only old (converted) emails over an over again, or all emails, including new ones as well?
