After removing the Password Protect on my domain (carslinger.ca) I refreshed the site page and now have a SERVER or DOMAIN ERROR. I am extremely frustrated with the company that sold me the software I am using and frustrated with the hosting company (UnixEngines) as they never respond to my technicle issues. This is even after I create & open a ticket for support.

Does anyone know or understand how I got to this error page?

I simply went to DirectAdmin > Password Protected Directories > then erased the exsisting password protection that was there and hit SAVE.

Thus, resulting in the error.

my email: [email protected]

check your .htaccess file, if there is anything in it remove it and try again.

are you sure?

What if THAT really screws things up for me? I am not a well-knowledged IT guy so I cannot afford to make mistakes.

What do you think?

Here's what the .htaccess file says:

RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/~carsling/carslinger.ca(.*) [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /~carsling/carslinger.ca/$1

What should I do???

Nope.

I did what you said, but only the homepage loaded and any other link (ie: contact.php) gets errors.

I get 404 not found errors for any links I click on... i'm not sure what the deal is, but it looks to be software specific from the software you are using?

well all the links referr to pagename.html when it should be pagename.php

So correct that and it seems to be working.

can i add you to MSN??

I am using software from www.carscripts.com
There seems to be 2 different htacess files.. I wouldnt mind sending them to you and see if we can work this one out.

Can I add you?

Honestly I would check with them as they most likely have some special scripts for .htaccess that are needed to function properly.

Do you have the file package you bought? does it have the .htaccess files in it? If so re-upload them and overwrite the ones you have now.

Give that a try, and then maybe read their directions or readme.txt file to learn about their setup protocol.
