All services unreachable after install, processes running fine!

Hi all,

I just installed DA on a fresh CentOS 5.4 box (all updated via yum).

All I can do is login via ssh. I can see the processes such as web, mail, etc running but cannot access remotely. Even an offsite service scan utility says the ports are down, so not a problem on my PC. NOT even DA opens up in browser (directadmin processes are running)!

No iptables/firewall etc has been changed/configured... plain install.

Restarting the services or the box didn't help too...

What should I look for and how to troubleshoot?

]# netstat -na | grep -i list | grep 2222
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:2222 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
 
Ahh, thanks... stopped iptables and working fine...

Now why the hell would a stock OS come set up like that way?
 
For security !!! :D

You shouldn't just stop iptables; you should create a firewall that blocks what you don't need and allows what you do need.l

Search firewall on these forums for some ideas.
