All welcome e-mails go into Yahoo! Mail's Junk Folder - why?

Hi all,

Ever since we set this server up, all the welcome e-mails go into the Junk mail folder of Yahoo! Mail. Our other two DA servers do the same thing.

What can I do, or how can I stop this? Do I have to e-mail Yahoo, or is it a setting within DA or my Linux box that I need to change?

TIA!

We have 3 DA servers. Two of the three had reverse DNS specified. I just fixed the third one to have reverse DNS as well.

The one in question already had reverse DNS specified - what else could it be?

Thanks for responding!

Where is the reverse DNS specified? On your server?

That'll only work if your upstream has authorized your nameserver for reverse DNS for the IP#s.

What do you get when you do (from your desktop):

nslookup xx.yy.zz.aa

(where xx.yy.zz.aa should be replaced by the IP# you're trying reverse DNS for)

You can also check whether you have rDNS set up by going to the following URL.

http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/ptr.ch?ip=65.19.169.136

Just replace the IP address with yours that you want to check. One thing I did find out is that if somehow an IP that you have moved to is blacklisted by Yahoo or Hotmail you can always request IPs to point to your mail server and add "interface = 65.19.169.136" (without the quotes and change your the IP to your own) to the /etc/exim.conf file to explicitly specify which IP your mail will be sent out from. Be sure to restart exim with "service exim restart" or "/etc/init.d/exim restart" once these changes have been made.

Okay I think I might have found the problem - it appears that there is a problem with the reverse lookup and where it is hosted, so I have a trouble ticket sent in to ARIN to change where the reverse lookup is pointing to.

Thanks guys for helping me out!

Unless you own the IPs (unless you get them directly from ARIN) they're not going to help you; you're going to have to get the assignment from whomever the IPs are assigned to.
