Allow ONE Reseller to Backup/Restore his Users

Saving space and maybe charge extra for it...

1. Enable in directadmin (Admin Level). While it's not enabled here, commands.allow and commands.deny won't help you, I suppose (should be verified).
2. Deny for all resellers except that one.
This works all right and implemented it on a server, but this is not the point. It would be much easier for people that don't have ssh access for example or prefer a GUI option.

I also agree for a simple reason.

I do backup of all user/reseller/whatever with cronjobs, if a reseller (or more) is able to backup can set a cron for same time (or different in minutes) that should server run multiple backups of same files wasting space and server performance.

Have the ability to limit that (or also limit per hours-of-day or number per day) should be very interesting for have a better "plan" of backups without risk to overload the server.

And I disagree, you may not agree with me.

My opinion is that if I do let resellers do their own backups, even though I'm doing it as well, I can reasonably say my backups are for my own convenience and I'm not resonsible to the user if we lose his contents.

But if we don't allow him to make backups, then he could certainly blame us if he loses his contents (perhaps because our backup systems fail). Though I'm not a lawyer, I did discuss this with mine some time ago; he pointed out that in my jurisdiction (the United States) there was some standard of care required to avoid liability, and that it was lower if I allowed the user to care for his property as well.

Yes i understand your point of view Jeff, in fact, is not an asking to force disable but just allow an admin to choose what is better for his setup/company/jurisdiction.

Well yes that work as work-around, buy, a simple checkbox on reseller packages would be much better without need to make custom code for each reseller.

We have many resellers and most of them backup their clients at least once a day, every day. This may cause high server load and affect all users on the server. So, having the ability to choose which reseller uses this feature, is a plus for us, for many reasons...

Anyway, even if the "Allow a Reseller to Backup/Restore his Users" option is off, a reseller can still make and download backups of it's clients, individually.

Also note that a reseller is an independent hoster and is responsible for taking care of it's clients.
