I am looking to go to a more tradition control panel for my clients. (Really up to this point we only offered hosting to high end e.g. my company managed everything but the user accounts on mail) But for direct admin to work, I would have to integrate into it, surgemail. I really love that mail program. The setup for surge mail is simple xml for the domains and such, and I really like the mirroring capabilities, as well as spam options. But here is my question. Can I integrate surge mail into Direct admin? (So that when a new account is created, my mx records are right, it sets up the domain in the control panel, and that there is at least a link to the user admin? If yes, then I will get a box up to try out direct admin, if no then I will pass, and start working on my own rudimentary control panel.
Thanks

It's probably that none of us know enough about Surgemail to answer your questions.

I've tried looking at the Surgemail home page and I think (but can't tell for sure) that Surgemail is a complete mailserver including the POP, IMAP, and SMTP daemons. If that's true, then it won't run on the same server.

If that's so, then what do you mean by integration?

Do you mean can DirectAdmin manage MX records so you can host sites on DA and mail on another server? Yes. By default you can set up templates so your MX records will be right, or you can define a script to run after a domain is created, to create new records, manipulate DNS, etc.

You could write a plugin for DirectAdmin to create a link in the DirectAdmin control panel to your Surgemail administration page(s).

What else do you need to know?
