My server was changed last night from (?) Ensim to this Direct Admin and now (a) I cannot ftp with Dreamweaver (b) I've lost my Squirrel Mail. I've no idea if this is the right forum to ask as I'm not even clear what the forums are about, so I'm sorry if this is the wrong place. I've talked to my ISP provider on the phone and she can get ftp link straight into my website but I cannot connect any more in Dreamweaver!!! The Direct Action help instructions tell you what to do with normal FTP's and Microsoft Front Page; but there is nothing for Dreamweaver and I've spent a couple of hours trying everything with intelligence. Please, please, please, could you add Dreamweaver to your help instructions! And what could have happened to my Squirrel Mail link?

Any help gratefully received.

If your hosting company did the change then they are the ones that need to help you. Dreamweaver has instructions about how to use ftp.

Thank you Floyd for answering so promptly. Yes, of course you are right...

...but it would really be helpful to have instructions for Dreamweaver in your Help files. Dead simple too, should be.

The instructions for Dreamweaver are the same as any other ftp client.

Username
Password
Hostname
Remote Path/Directory

Help file says:
Address - This is the address of the server. Use ftp.yourdomain.com

Some clients may ask for the host type (select "auto"), ASCII/Binary/Auto (select "auto), and the initial remote folder (you may leave this blank or change it to /domains/yourdomain.com/public_html

Crikey! the thing has suddenly clicked and worked! I didn't do any different to before! I think there must have been a delay on the server - I know they are still working on it! Thanks anyway.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the Dreamweaver Site Definition page with the info that I now know works, in case you can pass it on to the Help Page editor.

Doing it that way is a little dangerous because you are not specifying the domain to upload to. You are just specifying public_html. That is just a link to the default domain which is usually the last domain added. Add another domain and using these settings it will upload to an entirely different domain. Its better to do as I suggested above which is already on the Help site.
