Another IP assignment problem

One of my user accounts has about 15 domains hosted on a shared IP address. When I assigned a free IP to this user account, all its domains dropped to a default Apache page: 'Hey, it worked !! The [...] Apache webserver was successfully installed ...'

I've reverted to the shared IP successfully, but I would like to use an single IP for this user so that I can install a SSL cert. Has anyone got any ideas as to what might be happening.

If you moved the user to another ip address you have to move those domains to that ip address. The reason you are getting hey it worked is that the ip on the dns is not matching the ip in the apache virtual host.

Hey scsi, thanks for your response.
When I assigned the new IP to the user (and back again) I got a log screen listing the actions taken, apparently including the update of each domain.
Do I need to perform some other action on the domains, perhaps at user level?

Depending on how long a TTL you use in your DNS it could take a while (generally four hours is the default in DirectAdmin) before you see any domains your local DNS has already cached. After giving it about a minute or two to make sure your nameservers are updated you might check here.

In addition to showing you if others can see your site, it can give you some insight into how your site looks on other browsers.
