Apache HTTP Server 2.4.6 Released
The Apache Software Foundation and the Apache HTTP Server Project
are pleased to announce the release of version 2.4.6 of the Apache
HTTP Server ("Apache"). This version of Apache is our latest GA
release of the new generation 2.4.x branch of Apache HTTPD and
represents fifteen years of innovation by the project, and is
recommended over all previous releases. This release of Apache is
principally a security and bug fix release, including the following
2 security fixes:

*) SECURITY: CVE-2013-1896 (cve.mitre.org)
Sending a MERGE request against a URI handled by mod_dav_svn
with the source href (sent as part of the request body as XML)
pointing to a URI that is not configured for DAV will trigger a
segfault.

*) SECURITY: CVE-2013-2249 (cve.mitre.org)
mod_session_dbd: Make sure that dirty flag is respected when saving
sessions, and ensure the session ID is changed each time the session
changes. This changes the format of the updatesession SQL statement.
Existing configurations must be changed.

Also in this release are some exciting new features including:

*) Major updates to mod_lua
*) Support for proxying websocket requests
*) Higher performant shm-based cache implementation
*) Addition of mod_macro for easier configuration management

As well as several exciting fixes, especially those related to RFC edge
cases in mod_cache and mod_proxy.

NOTE: Apache httpd 2.4.5 was not released.

We consider this release to be the best version of Apache available, and
encourage users of all prior versions to upgrade.

Apache HTTP Server 2.4.6 is available for download from:

http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi

Apache 2.4 offers numerous enhancements, improvements, and performance
boosts over the 2.2 codebase. For an overview of new features
introduced since 2.4 please see:

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/new_features_2_4.html

Please see the CHANGES_2.4 file, linked from the download page, for a
full list of changes. A condensed list, CHANGES_2.4.6 includes only
those changes introduced since the prior 2.4 release. A summary of all
of the security vulnerabilities addressed in this and earlier releases
is available:

http://httpd.apache.org/security/vulnerabilities_24.html

This release requires the Apache Portable Runtime (APR) version 1.4.x
and APR-Util version 1.4.x. The APR libraries must be upgraded for all
features of httpd to operate correctly.

This release builds on and extends the Apache 2.2 API. Modules written
for Apache 2.2 will need to be recompiled in order to run with Apache
2.4, and require minimal or no source code changes.

When upgrading or installing this version of Apache, please bear in mind
that if you intend to use Apache with one of the threaded MPMs (other
than the Prefork MPM), you must ensure that any modules you will be
using (and the libraries they depend on) are thread-safe.

any idea when it will be available in CB2? Did ./build update but didn't show up in the list of ./build versions

Just tested it out, seems to be working fine.
Available in files1, as usually the other files mirrors will take up to 24 hours for rsync.

I have also upgraded now, no problems here. However, why does custombuild restart dovecot every time I recompile Apache? Here is output:

Code:
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/directadmin/custombuild/httpd-2.4.6'
Restoring certificate and key, and turning on httpd for DirectAdmins's check.
Shutting down dovecot: [ OK ]
Starting dovecot: Warning: fd limit (ulimit -n) is lower than required under max. load (1024 < 2048), because of default_client_limit
                                                           [ OK ]
Restarting apache.
Stopping httpd: [ OK ]
Starting httpd:
[root@server custombuild]#

(I am running Custombuild 2.0)

Did run into an error:
Code:
Restoring certificate and key, and turning on httpd for DirectAdmins's check.
Restarting apache.
Stopping httpd: ./build: line 7632: 13641 Terminated ${INITDDIR}/httpd restart
But it all runs fine ;-)

i guess that your using openvz
that mean your vps had out of memory
the build it's ok,
just do reboot and it's done
and you can do unlimit -n 4096
