apache can't start - module errors

Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/mod_vhost_alias.so into server: /etc/httpd/modules/mod_vhost_alias.so: Undefined symbol "ap_os_is_path_absolute"

It doesn't matter which module I comment out I get the equivalent error message for all of them.

I read somewhere that I might need to recompile the modules but I don't know how to do that..


I've done a ./build all but this message is still happening time and time again and 8 hours later I still haven't a bloody clue what to do

If you do not know how to do it, you've got two ways to go:

1. hire somebody, or
2. learn it yourself.

It's impossible to help you with that information, you've given. Probably you try to use modules compiled for older apache with recent one. In that case, there is a real need to re-compile them.
