Hello,

The Apache in my server is stopped. I cannot start via Direct Admin.

The log file is:
[Thu Dec 8 02:19:11 2005] [warn] pid file /var/run/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?

I did a graceful restart but it still not start.

Can you help me?

Thank you

Kill all apache/httpd processes, then manually delete the .pid file if it exists.
Then run configtest to make sure httpd.conf is good to go. Finally try starting apache.

What is the error output (if any)?

Hi jmstacey,

I can restart Apache now. But I found out there are a lot of files ssl_mutex.{number} in the /var/log directory with the size of 0 byte. Please show me the way to keep this directory clean.

Thanks for your help.

Hi jmstacey,

My httpd is stopped again. But this time, I followed your steps but no effect.

Thanks
