Assistance Required - public_html directory compromised - email services down

Hello:

I am not a techie. I was asked to update a site for a clinic. I backed-up everything on the remote server to which the logon/password provided access. Discovered the site, a WordPress blog, had been compromised and was being used to supply links to porn and pirated software. I deleted suspicious files only to find them replaced shortly thereafter.

The email service went down yesterday. Returned emails stated DNS problems.

I've reinstalled WordPress. Noticed some of the original files/directories are missing. The backup was lost due to my idiocy.

I recall seeing directories whose names began with "vi-" or something similar.

The hosting service allows for one domain, however, a previous domain was in use and all email accounts belonged to that domain.

The hosting company does not hold any backups.

Suggestions? Assistance, please!

Im sorry but i dont see any question here we should reply.

I think is the hosting company that should help you on this.

Also, without a domain name we cannot neither check dns settings.

Need to point email addresses under the old domain name (masaicenter.ca) to the current domain name (masaiclinic.ca).

The hosting company has no solution; simply stores and serves.

Cannot create addresses *@masaicenter.ca. Restricted to *@masaiclinic.ca.

Hosting company or DA will not allow more than one domain. I recall seeing files/directories named *masaicentre.ca. These files no longer exist.

You need to ask your hosting company to enable 1 domain pointer to your account or you will not be able to do that.

You dont need to create mail *@domain, it was an example, i was meaning that every email for a mail on old domain will be directed to email on new domain, but mail have to exist.

The hosting site must have had a domain pointer in place.
Could any file deleted from the top level directory down, to which I have access, cause this domain pointer to fail?

it depend, some directory are system needed for mail. regarding public_html you can delete anything inside that but will delete the site.

I dont know which file and where are placed on your account and why, so, cannot say with 100% certain what is safe to delete or not cause i cannot know what file are there and why :)
