Hello,

my webhosting using DirectAdmin 1.25

When i set an autoresponder I MUST set absolutly an forwarder or an pop3 account... otherwise the autoresponder does not work !

This is NOT that indicated into the site helper and i have advised my webhosting about that.

the site-helper say that :
"You cannot create an autoresponder name if it already exists as a POP3 account, forwarder, or mailing list"

If is clear to me is not clear to my webhosting...

He answer to me that I MUST create an pop3 or forwarder to my autoresponder work properly... this is a joke or what ?

If i create an pop3 i receive email into the account while i don't want this

I don't want to receive email from user that using my autoresponder, i using this autoresponder to send an automatic response !

How an autoresponser create into DirectAdmin must set to working properly ?

please put an clear response that i can forward to my webhosting...

Thank you !

Hello,

On a default install the pop account shouldn't be required. It's possible that your admin played with the "unseen" line forwarders to change the effect of email piping (likely for a reason). Try what your host is asking as the exim.conf that's on your server might be slightly modified from stock.

Hello John,

I think that my webhosting has "played" with the script :-(
And it's me that have trouble with my autoresponders...

I go advised my webhosting of your answer and i hope that it will make the required change to function properly the autoresponders (no robot name elsewhere that autoresponders area)

At present my visitor that requested my robot received my autoresponder AND an error of "unroutable" because i cannot send without forwarder or pop3 account of the SAME name.

If i create a pop account i receive ALL original email tat requested my autoresponder :-(
this is not logic and put lot of trash email into my account...

I hope that my webhosting will make required change now...

I forward them your answer...

Thank you

see you soon

hello again,

i spoke with the support of my webhosting and i have heard a surprise when them explain that is not them that have installed the script but an technician of DirectAdmin !!!

However, the autoresponder does not work as specified into the site-helper of DirectAdmin website...

I do not undestand the joke...

My webhosting has transfered your reply to the DirectAdmin assistance according ther licence right.

I hope to have the required change fastly !

see you soon,

regards

I recall a long time ago there was some question about the unseen option, so it's possible someone made a change since forgotten.

If your provider would simply install the latest version of the exim.conf file, everything would work as it should.

Note that your provider, if installing the latest version of the exim.conf file, should be sure to read the README found here, because it won't work without certain changes which must be made during installation.

Hello,

Thank you for your support this is very appreciated.

I have transfered your reply to my webhosting support.
I have asked them to update the version 1.25 actually used.

I have do everything what I could to express the problems with my webhosting. They now know the problem with your provided answers. It is now with them to make the necessary changes.

Thank you very much.

Hello,

my webhosting has made update to version 1.26
but...

the autoresponder require again creation of forwarder of the same name to work...

this is not as specified into de site-helper...

if i not create the forwarder with the same name i receive this error message:

Reason: Remote SMTP server has rejected address
Diagnostic code: smtp;550

the same problem again and again... no change...

I'm disapointed !

Note: You cannot create a forwarder name if it already exists as a POP3 account, autoresponder, or mailing list.

Note: You cannot create an autoresponder name if it already exists as a POP3 account, forwarder, or mailing list.

This is not clear ???

However...

check my example

you will receive failed message... it not work !

There's nothing any of us can do; your webhosting company should be willing to contact DA support to resolve this issue.

I think site-helper needs an overhaul.

The exim.conf has been evolving, but the email helper guide hasn't been keeping up.

The solution you're looking for where:
- you have an autoresponder
- you don't want to save any email

is to create the autoresponder, but also create a forwarder to:

:blackhole:

I'll update the email.html to represent the new behaviors.

John

Hello,

Yes, finally this new behaviour with :blackhole: into forwarding of the same name that autoresponder working correctly without keep trash emails...

This is not same that 1 autoresponder 1 action but is 1 autoresponder 2 actions

at least this is working !

Thank you very much
I have advised my webhosting that script is ok

File is now closed !
