It took my some time but I figured out that nor apache nor syslog is rotating the logfiles, but directadmin does it isself with something called tally.
The most elegant way to let awstats do its job is to have it process the already rotated log files, otherwise you'll be missing hits between awstats doin it's job and the tally rotating.
However the tally writes them in a little unconventional format like Feb-2006.1.tar.gz where the highest counting number is the latest...
Has anyone found a way to let awstats process this file?
