I get this error when doing a backup. Oddly, it says mydomain.com backed up successfully, but then I get this aftward.

"Unable to read /etc/virtual/mydomain.com_off/passwd : Can't get a lock on /etc/virtual/mydomain.com_off/passwd

Unable to get data from file: /etc/namedb/mydomain.com.db"

I will say it is a domain that was moved from one user to another. However, the domain has no database at all, however the user it came from did.

I'm starting to wonder if moving domains between users actually takes far longer than just downloading the site and data, delete it from the current user, and make it over again on the new user.

I coiuld be wrong but my recollection is that you do get errors when backing up a suspended domain.

You should do a test restore to see if it works.

Also try unsuspending the domain and then backing it up to see if you get errors.

You get that when restoring a suspended domain or user sometimes but not all the time. I have never investigated exactly what the circumstances are but I know I have never had a problem afterward.

When I move users from one server to another I first suspend them then backup, transfer, restore, unsuspend. I have done this many, many times and have seen this error over and over. I have never experienced any consequences.

Thanks for your digging. I'll post what I find. I know I created the problem moving things around. I don't think I'll do that again. It's 1/10th the work to delete the domain and recreate it.

Thanks!
