Hi,

Is it only me or you have it too.
In the last months it seems that the backup processes (Admin Backup/Transfer, System Backup) are taking much longer than it was in the past.
Is anything change with the mechanism or something?

How can I improve it so it will take shorter?

Thanks.

Dedicated or VPS?, we have not seen any slow backups on our servers.
If you have VPS maybe your provider is doing oversell on the node

@splby
I'm also using the old format "tar.gz", it hasn't changed.

@Active8
My host is "Dedicated Server".

@MaXi32
Thanks. I haven't find anything useful yet, but I will try.

---

My database is basically pretty big (~5GB) so maybe this cause the slow backup.
But this size was also before, and I don't remember it was like that.

I try to run the backup in the late night, but I'm still getting "system load" messages once or twice during the backup (The system load warning is set by 10%, and the notifications shows ~10-15%)

But what I'm trying to say is that there wasn't any significant change in the site's data or with DA settings or anything else.
This is why I'm asking if anything has been changed with DA.

as I know - LA 10 - means 10 CPU cores 100% loaded, in your case up to 15 cores fully loaded, your dedicated server has enough CPU ?
also check WA (waits/disk load).

You want want to have a look at the ionice_string setting option in directadmin.conf which can give more priority to user backups. I don't now for sure if that also has effect on admin or reseller backups.
