Hi Guys,

This may catch people out so I think it's an additional but necessary step to put into the DA restore procedure.

A warning should be displayed if you are restoring a user onto a server and the same username exists already. Just a warning where the admin/reseller can click "OK" to proceed.

We got caught out moving users around where a guy with 4 domains was restored onto a more powerfull machine and it overwrote the old user. Well it didn't damage either user, thankfully. However it added the domains to the user. Not nice.

Thanks,

Paul

Hello,

That is the expected result though. The DirectAdmin restore tool is designed to merge data if it's restoring to the account with the same username. We may get more complaints to remove it than praises to leave it, but that's just my opinion. I'll leave it up to you guys to decide. Leave your comments on if you're like some sort of javascript warning that one of the selected users already exists.

Hi John,

I think the Javascript POP-up is a good idea. I'm not asking for the feature to be modified or removed in anyway, simply just to put in a final precautionary step so as people restoring users don't do silly things. Which when you have 10's of servers it can happen easy. Especially in Ireland where there are lots of people called paddy and richard etc :)

Thanks,

Paul
