backup strategy?

Question from a noob Linux guy here... please be gentle ;-)

First dedicated server (CentOS), and I'm trying to understand if the DA system backup feature is sufficient for a complete server backup. There are a ton of tutorials out there for generic Linux server backups, but not a lot regarding a DA backup.

I currently create MySQL backups manually using myphpadmin, but I really need to get an entire server backup strategy in place. I'd be looking to perform a full backup weekly with daily incrementals that I can FTP to a remote server.

I'm looking for any advice, things to look out for, and/or links to resources that would help me get a solid backup strategy in place.

TIA,
---John

Hello,

You'd definitely find ready guides and other valuable thoughts on these forums, if you use either built-in search, or Google with "site:directadmin.com" (in a request). So, why don't you simple start with reading existing threads and messages, there you can really find all you might need: rsync, mysqldump/mysqladmin, etc.

Thanks Zeiter. I didn't know you could prefix a Google search with "site:" like that... I've found lots of good info...let the reading begin!
