I have a problem with backuping my infromation.

Backuping in DirectAdmin:
1) reseller backuping
2) system backup on the 2nd HDD including system files, databases and user directories /home/reseller_user/user_backups.

The resellers backuping is normally, but system backup - load average over 30-40 and very big iowait. System backup size is about 30GB.

So, please help me - I need to do backups without using the DirectAdmin. But resellers backups doing normally, so interesting first of all system backup without using DirectAdmin - databases, system files and copying the resellers backups on the 2nd HDD

1) Searching more information about my trouble... And I read about incrimental and differential backups. I think, both of methods must substantially reduce loading of server - weekly/monthly full backup and everyday differential backups.
Whether it is possible to carry out a similar method in the system backup admin-level of DirectAdmin or as in general it to carry out.

2) I'm reading about lock tables and decided that mysqldump is possibly guilty in high load. Backup of all databases is done in system backup last and a 11-12 o'clock of day is ended. At this time already actively users begin to walk on a sites. Can it is possible somehow to substitute mysqldump by the same safe dump of databases, but without locking of tables.

copying of MySQL files may indeed be a culprit; I'm not sure. Another culprit will be if your system uses PATA/IDE drives and the second drive is on the same controller channel as the first. That's much slower than having one of the drives on each channel.

Certainly you can make differential backups, but you need to consider how much longer a restore will take.

If I were you I'd start by trying not copying the MySQL files, but instead using MySQLdump. I'm not familiar with the details on how to do it; I'll leave that as a search task for you .
