Hi,

I was wondering if bandwith usage generated by a php script will be measured by Direct Admin. We have a customer that runs an online proxy website. The (server's) upload traffic is measured (so the visitor is downloading data from our server), but will the websites that the server fetches (download) also be measured?

Thanks in advance,

Alexander

Yes, it will be measured. All transcation that goes in & out of the account are logged by Apache. So DirectAdmin will pick it up and process the bandwidth usage.

Side note : you need to be careful for hosting online proxy. They can drain your server resources and if you are not careful, they will get DoS easily.

Well, I run 2 servers with DA running proxies.
But I find only 40% of actual bandwidth used in+out is taken into account by DA.

In this case, you might want to setup SNMP + CACTI to start monitoring the interface port directly to avoid huge bandwidth bills :)

True, it's alway better to do that on your server. But the problem is, it gives you the total bandwith usage of the server, and not the traffic of one customer ;) And that's what this topic is about.

I have MRTG running and dedicated unmetered xxx mbps ports. ;)

But according to my findings, 40% of in+out is counted by DA and I bill my clients for that only.
