Basic but annoying

I posted my index.html under the public_html directory but I get an error 403 when I surf on my web site.

Can anyone help me?

check the file owner and permissions.

you get 403 for both:

http://yoursite/
and
http://yoursite/index.html

also, the 403 error, and a brief description is always
written to the apache error log

Like trying to fit an oval peg into a round hole. No matter how similar they are its just not going to fit, or at least correctly.

The letter I and i are not the same thing.

The human brain is an amazing thing. It can automatically translate the difference of what was written to what was meant. Computers cannot do that. They can only do exactly what they are told.

Except of course in that Windows computers don't care if it's Index or index, which is why a lot of people get confused.

Which is why I really hate the way Windows does things. It makes my job as an admin harder and really does a disservice to the people using Windows too.
